Students have had the opportunity to hear a couple of Scholastic's Kids Are Authors books. We read "Picture Perfect!" and "A Day in the Life of Bubble Gum." "Picture Perfect" fit well with our own picture day this week. In addition, we used the 
illustrations as part of our art lesson of self-portraits (Our health curriculum also coordinated because we used an emotion/feeling in our portrait.). Today, we read the bubble gum story and it is always a class favorite with the twist of events at the conclusion!
A few students have expressed interest in writing their own books for a contest. Check out the Scholastic contest website. If students are seriously interested, I could help coordinate this project!
