Learning can be fun!!

3rd graders had a lot of fun learning experiences the week before Thanksgiving!

Tues.: COSI made a visit to PG thanks to the "box tops" program. Students enjoyed an all-school assembly first thing in the morning. This year's topic: Energy....renewable, nonrenewable, how energy happens, and energy conservation. Later in the morning, 3rd grade had an opportunity to experience some hands-on experiments. This was a great supplement to our science program!

Wed.: Two varsity tennis players came during their study halls to our classroom as guest readers. Juliana and Alexiss shared a story and then explained some of the game of tennis. Students also got an opportunity to ask some "interview" questions. I think it's important to have guest come into our classroom. It gives students an opportunity for them to see other people's value on school and learning. In this case, the tennis players were a role model students. In addition, it was a good correlation to our health unit which is focusing on "Keeping Fit"!
Also on Wed, you'll see pictures below of a fun math review lesson with our geometry unit. Students had the opportunity to practice their math vocabulary with , FOOD, yes, FOOD. Who knew you could discuss: angles (right, obtuse, acute), triangles (equilateral, isosceles, scalene), quadrilaterals, rectangles, squares, symmetry, congruent, lines, etc.....all with a simple bag of crackers and pretzels! Yes, please DO try this experiment at home :) (Test on Wed.!)
Hope you enjoy the pictures below and had a WONDERFUL blessed Thanksgiving!
