Labor Day Break!

I hope everyone enjoyed their extra long weekend and had some end-of-summer fun! Tomorrow, it'll be back to work in 3T. Our class has been doing a great job of getting along and working hard. We're slowly working up to full speed.

I just finished grading most everyone's first major writing assignment: a paragraph about themselves. They used their bag of personal items they brought in to prewrite. We drafted the paragraphs on Tuesday and then edited/revised on Friday. I graded their final copy. Most of them did a great job! The area that was taken points off the most for was spelling and mechanics (endmarks, complete sentences). But, I'm confident this will develop as the year progresses and we get through more practice through our English book.

Most of our writing assignments this year will be graded using a rubric. This allows the student to see what they'll be assessed on beforehand and see exactly why/if points were taken off.

Don't forget Picture Day is THURSDAY :)
